One of my favorite days of the year!

The Catholic Post, the Peoria diocesan newspaper, has released the list of clergy moves which will take effect this month.

Last year, for the first time, I realized why I get excited about this every year: it's so very Apostolic. I think of Paul sending Timothy to the Corinthians, to the Phillipians, and to the Thessalonians to minister to them. It's another one of the ways that we're connected to the early Church.

Anyway, here's the list of this year's assignments.

What's got me particularly happy is to see that my own parish is getting a new associate pastor, a young priest who I know back from the old days. In fact last year, I blogged about a conversation I had with him some years back.

no, i think it is to cover up for scandals, ala Fr. Fluffy.

Well yeah there's that, but I prefer to at least try to think in more hopeful/less cynical terms.

Besides, sometimes Timothy was being sent to crack the whip and straighten a particular Church out.

usually i agree with you, but in this case i must disagree. for those of you former St. John's/newmanites our friend the monz will be leaving in june :( it'll be quite a loss for St. John's. fortunately whoever is lucky enough to pick him up will gain alot!

Well, I wasn't going to say anything because it hasn't been officially announced yet, but yeah, it won't be the same.

Wow. Monsignor's leaving? I just can't imagine Newman without him. My Monsignor (in Kansas) is also leaving our parish. Monsignors on the move!
