Baptism report

Everything went splendidly yesterday. Unfortunately, I won't be able to post pictures for a few days until I can get my computer set up in the new place.

I will say that Matthew slept through the entire rite, and even through all but the last 10 minutes or so of the reception. He's such a good little boy!

And now he's a Christian!

Tis a pity, that he didn't cry. There is an old custom that says if a child cries during his/her baptism, then he has a vocation to the priesthood or religious life, depending upon the sex of the child. Of course, that's just custom.

For St. Augustine, a baby's crying during baptism was proof of original sin, which resists regeneration despite the absence of a fully-developed will. Of course, that's just St. Augustine.
