A unique opportunity

Yahoo has an incredible slideshow (follow the link and click "related slideshow to the right of the picture) of people all over the world praying for the Pope.

As I was sitting here praying and trying to not to be anxious about his situation, I came across this slideshow, and was incredibly uplifted. If you are troubled by the Holy Father's illness, I recommend checking it out. It shows men and women and children all over the world are right now united in prayer and through the celebration of the Eucharist offered for the Holy Father.

The Body of Christ is always one, especially in the Eucharist, but in a particular way, we are united in prayer for a single intention as the Pope nears his birth into eternal life.

The whole Body suffers as he suffers, and if he passes soon - as it appears may be the case - the whole body will weep and mourn together. But She will also receive many consolations and graces together.

This is a unique opportunity to be united together in prayer. When you go to Mass, I encourage you to pray with the worldwide Church for Pope John Paul II.

Folks, this is as Catholic as it gets.

Just wanted to comment on the Pope's condition. We pray for his peaceful death and may Jesus himself come to greet him at the entry way to heaven. "Well done, good and faithful servant."
What we all strive to hear some day.

God Bless our great leader as he enters a new life. Can you imagine having over 1,000,000 people praying for you? Pope John Paul, I love you and I thank you for all you have done for Catholics and non-Catholics alike. Christ will certainly meet you as you arrive to your new home. You will be in my prayers.

THE WORLD IS LOSING AN ANGEL AMONG US. HE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED. WE SHOULD LEARN FROM HIS LIFE TO FORGIVE AS HE FORGAVE. HE TRULY LIVED THE LIFE OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. LET US PRAY IN HIS HOUR OF DESPAIR.

BEATUTIFUL WORDS AND THOUGHTS,THANK YOU.

Thank you all for your comments.

Karen, that number is probably in the billions, not millions. Amazing, isn't it?

I wish i could be at St Peters right now. Pray for the Holy father and peace in our souls and on earth

As our Pope championed life, he likewise bring dignity to death and dying. We are so blessed to have a saint for our Pope in our time and age. May God receive our beloved Pope in His kingdom without delay.
Viva il Papa. May God be praised forevermore.

Why would anyone who is the highest human in the caholic church need to have prayers? This is not rational....

April, as the highest human in the Catholic Church, the Pope is not only resposible for the his own actions throughout his life, but also for the actions of others that were due to his actions. The scriptures say that to whom much is given, much will be expected, and he has been given more responsibility than anyone else in the world. There is also the fact that in his last few hours/days he is still being a witness to Jesus Christ, and he needs our prayers that he remains strong as a witness that death is a passing into the life of heaven. The whole world is watching the way that the Pope will die, and he has the unique opportunity to witness to his gospel of life, from conception to natural death, as they say. We also pray for him because we love him and want to support him in his final sufferings.

I hope this clarifies this a bit...

Your comment that this is as Catholic as it gets says it all.
